DUTIES: Job responsibilities: Manage day-to-day process and product quality problems in an adhesive and resin polymerization manufacturing facility. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions while applying scientific methods for the investigation and resolution of process issues and/or operational support. Investigate, diagnose and correct (or recommend corrections) for technical operational problems such as tooling, practices or procedures, execessive cost or scrapping, production delays,raw material flows, unfavorable production variances, quality shortfalls,finished product flows, etc. Perform engineering design in-house and manage work performed by outside contractors for all phases of a project. Projects range in value from $2,500 to $100,000+; and may include upgrades and modification to existing manufacturing facilities, utilities and buildings. Chemical facility process control software knowledge including PLC's, SCADA and MMI Software required. Support all quality initiatives and work with the Quality and Technical laboratories to insure established product quality standards. Coordinate with the maintenance department and priortize work based on operational and project needs. Help to insure that the Plant is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly fashion. Assist in the implementation of housekeeping initiatives (i.e. 5S program) and lean manufacturing practices to foster an efficient, safe and environmentally sound work environment.
REQUIREMENTS: BS in Chemical Engineering, with at least 5 years, preferably 10 years Process Engineering experience in a similar environment. Working knowledge of digital control system software applications; include PLC's (i.e.SCADA), knowledge of process control principles and direct application experience in analog control (PID, Cascade, and Constrain Controllers) batch processing, alarms, and digital logic aplications. Additional experience in MMI operationg systems (i.e.Citect) and graphics software is highly desirable. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Knowledge of Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing practices is desired. Should be able to use MS Project, WORD, POWERPOINT, EXCEL, MSACCESS, Statistical software (JMP. MiniTab, Statistical, RS/1, etc.) and (AutoCad or Visio), Due to 24/7 plant operations off-hour work may be required during equipment trials, process problems and emergency situations.
